commerce as field of study..?

why whenever we use to talk about setting aims, in Pakistan there comes only few things in our mind?like doctor,engineer,pilot...?why most of people choose commerce subjects because they got few marks or not on merit to got admission in some medical or engineering university and at last when they have no choice they took commerce as their field for further study,is it fair?if yes then why a commerce student can't join medical or engineering when ever he/she wants to ? of course its not a fair play when a commerce student is not eligible to do some studies in the science fields then why a student with bachelors of science is allowed to do masters in commerce or in business?lets have a look about the consequences .first of all when we heard the name of icom/bcom/mcom in compsarison of fsc/bsc/medical/engineering why the people have a better image with the people with science subjects specially rather than the people studying commerce or business?where as economy of every country is primarily run by business men ,economist etc.these doctors, engineers, scientists no doubt are an important part but hey are there for serving their people and the are earning through it and earning quiet well .
the real problem is that the 1 of the most important degree is getting down and down by people with different mind set, students themselves , by business community and even by education institutes .
And this can't be got back without the collective efforts by students, business community, teachers, educational institutes and by regulatory authorities .
because this is one of the only fields that produces good business men ,financial analyst ,financial advisors, managers ,bankers ,leaders, accountants, marketing and sales etc.etc.
have a look about a commerce student and the things he can do after his graduation :
A commerce graduate may pursue the Master of Commerce, or other post-graduate masters programs such as the Master of Finance (MFin), Master of Accounting (MAcc), Master in Business Administration (MBA). The degree is usually recognised by the various professional accounting bodies, and graduates often therefore pursue accounting designations such as the Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), or Financial qualifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).etc .
so what is commerce?"commerce includes all the legal activities which helps directly of indirectly in distribution of goods for place of production to ultimate consumer"
so after reading this you will agree with me that it is a very vast field which includes lots and lots of business activities in it like trade ,import ,export, manufacturing ,marketing etc.
after all this if we still think that its for average students and they are also not paid nor given that much respect that they deserve then...think where we are standing...?
Commerce covers core competencies in accounting, finance, information systems marketing, management,hrm,e-commerce etc. This innovative program is designed for people in middle to senior management who are looking for further knowledge in their chosen careers. Graduates in other fields have the opportunity to change career directions through quality courses leading to professional qualifications in the fields of applied finance, electronic commerce, information systems or professional accounting. Students may major in one of these four fields of expertise or study a general commerce program.
